Business Owners Policy
(BOP)

The most cost-effective way to protect your business. A BOP bundles general liability and commercial property insurance into one streamlined, affordable policy — covering the two biggest risks most small businesses face.

Business owners policy insurance

What a BOP includes

  • General liability (bodily injury, property damage, advertising injury)
  • Commercial property (building, contents, equipment, inventory)
  • Business interruption / income replacement
  • Medical payments to third parties
  • Optional add-ons: data breach, equipment breakdown, hired/non-owned auto

Who qualifies for a BOP?

  • Fewer than 100 employees
  • Annual revenue under $5–10 million
  • Business location in a low-to-medium risk building class
  • Industry not specifically excluded (some contractors, manufacturers don't qualify)

If your business doesn't qualify for a BOP, CCA can build a custom standalone GL + property package that covers the same risks.

BOP questions answered

How much does a BOP cost?

Most small businesses pay $1,000–$3,000/year for a BOP. Retail and professional services are on the lower end; restaurants and contractors are higher. It's almost always cheaper than buying GL + property separately.

Does a BOP include workers comp?

No. Workers compensation must be purchased separately. A BOP covers third-party claims and your property — not employee injuries.

Can contractors get a BOP?

Some contractors qualify; many don't because of the physical risk profile. General contractors and higher-risk trades often need standalone GL + property. We'll tell you immediately which structure fits your work.

What add-ons should I consider?

Data breach coverage is increasingly important for any business that stores customer data. Equipment breakdown covers mechanical failure of business equipment. Hired/non-owned auto covers vehicles your employees use but you don't own.
